There seems to be no rational person that suggests that we are ready to open our country. Likewise, there is no rational person that believes an indefinite closure is tenable. So it is a forgone conclusion that we will open but the question remains is when and how. What are the prerequisites? What will be the consequences? What are the goals? What level of increased loss of life is “acceptable”? What can we do to mitigate morbidity and mortality?
These are certainly not easy questions but there is plausible evidence that without widespread testing the country cannot open without mayhem.
